Small breasts are the result of genetic factors or a pregnancy or weight loss. However, implants are able to adapt according to your requirements, i.e. small breasts can be enlarged and slightly drooping breasts can be lifted and firmed to restore harmony to the proportions of your body. We determine the size, shape and position of the implant in a consultation with each patient based on her individual wishes. We use only modern silicone gel implants that conform to the highest quality standards.
The breast enlargment is performed in a short-stay inpatient setting, under a general anaesthetic.
I insert the implants after making a small incision in the lower fold of the breast (in certain cases, at the edge of the nipple or in the armpit as well), above or below the pectoral muscle (depending on the thickness of the epidermis). I have to insert a drainage tube occasionally. It can be removed after one day. Absorbable sutures are used so there is no need to have any stitches removed.
After the operation a bra should be worn day and night for around 6 weeks and sporting activities such as jogging and riding should be avoided.
I use only the highest quality silicone implants manufactured by Allergan or Motiva, since numerous medical studies have demonstrated that silicone does not cause any health risks. The implant that is inserted into the body is surrounded by a fine sheath of connective tissue. Thickening of this sheath may very occasionally result in capsular fibrosis. Reduced sensation around the nipple is usually only a temporary problem. Secondary bleeding or infections are possible but respond well to treatment.
