Weight loss and increasing age cause the skin on the thighs to sag. A thigh lift, occasionally combined with suction of the excess fatty tissue, restores an attractive, youthful leg contour.
This operation is performed in an inpatient setting, under a general anaesthetic.
The thigh lift procedure involves removing excess skin and the underlying fatty tissue in the groin and in many cases on the inside of the thigh as well and tightening the remaining skin. Depending on the extent of the operation, we may have to insert a drainage tube which can be removed after a day.
A compression garment should be worn for 4 to 6 weeks after the operation. Absorbable sutures are used so there is no need to have any stitches removed. Sporting activities should be avoided for 6 weeks.
Any secondary bleeding, infections and unsightly scars are treatable.
